Aims and scope:

This course will introduce you to Portuguese language with a focus on oral communication, and is aimed at students of all ages and backgrounds. The oral focus of this course, born in the 1980s in Brazil, is today widely used in schools and universities in Brazil and worldwide for the introduction of Portuguese as a foreign language. Presenting information about the country and the Brazilian people, their main cultural events, popular festivals, music and customs, the course will also introduce you to Brazilian culture. By the end of this course, you will be able to introduce yourself and others, ask for things, buy in shops, indicate the time, or ask for directions.

Methodology:
In this two-week course you will be part of a small group of up to 8 students. The course will be entirely taught online, and live lectures and webinars will be supplemented by asynchronous online written discussions. The course format is so uncomplicated that it can be used in groups or individually, even without constant help from a local teacher. Due to the clear way in which grammar in use is treated, the course textbook can also be considered as an illustrated situational grammar always at hand. Live lectures and webinars will be supplementd by online written discussions based on Youtube videos selected by the teacher according to student interests and backgrounds.
